Our NEW flexible online course, VetImprove, is here to help. It’s a four-step course which guides you through identifying, planning, implementing, and sustaining positive changes in practice. It’s designed to empower veterinary team members like you to lead quality improvement and build a culture of continuous learning within your team, one small step at a time. 

Created by experienced trainers and ground in PhD research into veterinary patient safety, team communication and quality improvement, VetImprove combines evidence-based insights with practical tools you can use straight away. You’ll also benefit from data and insights drawn from VDS claims and VetSafe reports.

If you work in a veterinary team and want to lead positive change in your practice, this course is for you. Whether your focus is improving clinical care, making changes to client services, or strengthening team communication, VetImprove gives you the tools and support to lead meaningful change in your own context. 

What will I learn? 

  • QI tools and techniques: Straightforward, effective methods for planning and delivering quality improvement projects that will make a real, sustained difference. 
  • Systems thinking made simple: Understand how different parts of your practice system interact and where targeted change can have the biggest impact.  
  • Working with people, not just processes: Explore how to communicate change clearly, engage your team, and support them through improvement work.
  • Design for sustainable change: Use the SEIPS framework to design and implement effective interventions, map people processes, and plan improvements that are realistic and long-lasting. 
  • Everyday leadership for QI: Discover how inclusive behaviours and building a psychologically safe workplace help create the right conditions for change. 

What can I expect? 

  • 11 hours CPD including short, engaging online modules and two personalised check-ins with Dr Freya Rooke.
  • Practical application grounded in veterinary practice, with tools you can apply straight away.
  • Evidence-informed content shaped by PhD research into veterinary patient safety and communication, plus insights from VDS claims and VetSafe data.
