Leading a veterinary reception team comes with its own unique challenges. As a senior receptionist or team leader, you’re responsible for managing expectations, supporting your team, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. But leadership can feel lonely, and knowing how to navigate difficult conversations, set boundaries, and motivate others isn’t always easy. 

This interactive online coaching course is designed specifically for senior or aspiring lead receptionists. Through two immersive workshops followed by monthly check-ins for 3 months, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to lead effectively, communicate assertively, and create a positive, high-performing team environment. 

Is this course for me? 

This course is suitable for any veterinary receptionist in a leadership role—or preparing to step into one—who wants to develop confidence, communication skills, and effective leadership strategies. 

What will I learn? 

This course will help you: 

  • Understand what leadership really is (and isn’t!) 
  • Gain insights into different behaviours and how to work effectively with your team 
  • Navigate the challenges of leadership, including managing loneliness in the role 
  • Build confidence in having difficult conversations and setting clear boundaries 
  • Coach and motivate your team for better performance and morale 
  • Master assertive conversations and give effective feedback 
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with clinicians 
  • Understand how to diffuse challenging situations and proactively manage complaints 
  • Learn key skills to manage your time and responsibilities effectively 

Course Structure and Sessions 

This is an 8-hour interactive coaching programme, delivered online in small groups to ensure a highly engaging and supportive learning experience. 

📅 Session 1 – Wednesday 21 May 2025 (10:00 – 12:30) 

📅 Session 2 – Wednesday 25 June 2025 (10:00 – 12:30) 

📅 Session 3 – Wednesday 10 September 2025 (11:00 – 12:00) 

📅 Session 4 – Wednesday 15 October 2025 (11:00 – 12:00) 

📅 Session 5 – Wednesday 19 November 2025 (11:00 – 12:00) 

The first two interactive workshops (2.5 hours each) provide a foundation in leadership, communication, and motivation. This is followed by monthly one-hour check-ins over three months to reinforce learning, provide ongoing support, and ensure you feel confident applying your skills in the workplace. 

What can I expect? 

  • 8 hours of interactive online coaching with Dr Iain Price and the Training team  
  • Small-group learning (minimum 5 participants) for personalised support and discussion 
  • Practical exercises and scenarios to help you apply what you learn 
  • Ongoing check-ins for three months to keep you on track and supported
